How I work

I work with individuals and couples in a safe, confidential space. My approach is relational, as I believe that a good therapeutic relationship is based on trust and honesty - this serves as an important base for us to begin to be curious. The way that I work begins with listening - I am passionate about getting to know and understand those I work with. I take an inclusive, non-judgmental stance to difference in all its forms.

I am trained in integrative psychotherapy, meaning that I draw on a range of theoretical and practice traditions in the field of psychotherapy. Sometimes talking about theoretical models can be off-putting, but for those who are interested, some of the approaches that I draw on include body-orientated psychotherapy, attachment theory, trauma-informed, emotionally focused therapy for couples (EFTC), psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, and contemporary psychoanalysis.

My work is also informed by current psychological and neuroscientific research, mindfulness, as well as my experience of you in the room.

As each of us and each relationship is different, my approach will be tailored to best support you, and your needs.

Experience

I am a fully qualified therapist, with close to a decade of clinical experience. I completed my core training at one of the leading therapy training institutions in Europe, and have since gone on to train further with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), in order to work with couples.

In addition to private practice I have worked with a diverse range of clients in well respected therapy services, including at The Bowlby Centre - another leading institute for attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

I have experience, also, of working with clients struggling with severe and enduing psychological and emotional distress, including the impact of living with psychiatric diagnoses.

In the past I’ve worked non-therapeutically with destitute asylum seekers, as well as individuals struggling with the impact of homelessness.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and abide by their ethical principles.
